Find Your Representatives
Not sure who is your elected representative?
In New York State, each voter elects the following legislative representatives to represent her or him in local, state and federal government:
-2 United States Senators to the U. S. Senate (who represent all of New York State)
-1 Congressperson to the U.S. House of Representatives (who represent one of 29 Congressional Districts in New York State)
- 1 New York State Senator to the New York State Senate
- 1 Assemblymember to the New York State Assembly
-1 Legislator (who represents a specific district throughout the county)
-Depending on the city or town in which you live, you likely elect one or more council members or town board members to represent you on the city council or town board. For example, if you live in the City of Buffalo, you elect a single district council member, who represents whichever one of the 9 city council districts in which you live.
